Another Disappointing Year for New York Football

Jets are donešŸ—‘ļø Knicks beat the Nets twice šŸ‘‘ Daniel Jones is BENCHED

November has come and we all know what that means: New York Football is already over. The Jets and the Giant's postseason aspirations, albeit already quite slim, have all but mathematically been eliminated over the past weekend.

itā€™s so overā€¦

For the Giants, the ride is finally over. After 6 years, a 24-45-1 starting record and a 4-year, 160 million dollar contract, Daniel Jones has (probably) played his final game in a Giants uniform. Brian Daboll announced the former first-round pick would be shut down in favor of fan-favorite backup Tommy Devito. Despite the Giants signing Drew Lock this past offseason to be the primary backup to Jones, it seems the Giants are fully embracing the tank by starting Devito. The Giants hold the 5th pick in the NFL draft and will likely target top QB prospects like Miamiā€™s Cam Ward and Coloradoā€™s Shadeur Sanders. Although Giants owner John Mara has reaffirmed that coach Daboll will be returning next year, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Daboll ā€œis coaching for his job.ā€ Whatever the case, the outcome of the Giant's next 7 games will have a monumental impact on the Giants franchise for many years following.

And then thereā€™s the Jetsā€¦ I donā€™t even know where to start with them. No team in the NFL can create so much drama paired with even more disappointment. From Rodgers skipping minicamp to go to Egypt and the Haason Reddick holdout to start the year, the Jets have continued their clown show resulting in the firing of Head Coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas. Superfluous moves like trading for Devante Adams tried to hide the Jets organization's true nature: pure dysfunction. This is what happens when you give control of your entire organization to an aging, slightly crazy former MVP with strong opinions on how things are run. When asked if he is planning on playing in 2025, Rodgers replied with the noncommittal response ā€œI think so, yeah,ā€ but with a completely new regime coming in 2025, the Aaron Rodgers experiment is likely over.

ā€” Top 5 stories this week ā€”

1. Jalen Brunson Game Winner over Brooklyn

Knicks-Nets Final Score from Friday

The ā€œBattle of the Boroughsā€ came down to the wire this past Friday at MSG with Jalen Brunsonā€™s dagger giving the Knicks the win. The Knicks were coasting all game but a late 4th quarter surge led by Cam Thomas and the Nets had the Knicks down one late in the 4th. With no hesitation off the inbound, Brunson drains a three with six seconds remaining. With this win, the Knicks improve their NBA Cup record to 2-0.

2. Guess What?? Jets lose again!!

Same old Jetsā€¦

Another week, another disappointment. The Jets host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and found another way to lose in devastating fashion. After being benched for 2 games, Anthony Richardson returned for the Colts and scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown, his second of the game, with 46 seconds left to beat the Jets 28-27. When asked about the teams success this season, ā€œItā€™s been tough," is all wide receiver Garrett Wilson had to say. The Jets have now lost their 7th of their last 8 games.

3. New York Leads the Nation in Sports Betting

New Yorkers ā¤ļø Gambling

Sports bettors in New York spent a record $2.32 billion in October, the most ever wagered on sports online in a single month in any state. The Yankees deep postseason run and the start of the NBA and NHL seasons likely boosted wagers significantly. Despite the increase in wagers, profits were down compared to September (aka New Yorkers are winning a lot of money).

4. The Daniel Jones Era is Over.

At least we had 2022ā€¦

The Giants have finally done what many have been begging for for years: Daniel Jones is done. We will look back on this stretch of Giants history and wonder how in the world Daniel Jones was able to stick around for so long. While Tommy DeVito gets the starting nod for now, all eyes now look forward to see who the Giants field commander will for the coming season.

5. Kiyan Anthony Commits to Syracuse

Future Knickerbocker

Kiyan Anthony, son of Knicks Legend Carmelo Anthony and New Yorkā€™s top 2025 basketball recruit, has committed to his fathers alma mater Syracuse. Out of Long Island Lutheran in Glen Head, Kiyan was rated a 4-star shooting guard and is ranked 6th in the class nationally.

NEW YORK JOCK EXCHANGE šŸ“ˆšŸ“‰

RISERS: OG Anunoby is off to the best scoring start of his career averaging 17.4 ppg proving the narrative wrong that he is just a defensive-centric player. Tommy DeVito has been named the starting QB after the benching of Daniel Jones. Mikal Bridges was lethal from midrange against his former team in the Nets proving to fans why the Knicks put up so much for him. Jonathon Quick had back to back shutout wins and is the best backup goalie in the NHL. Cam Thomas has neem putting up crazy performances, including a 40-bomb against the Knicks, and has been disrupting Nets tanking goals.

LOSERS: Daniel Jones is done in a Giants uniform for good. Mika has been struggling to start the year with bad turnovers and a long goalless streak. Jericho Sims has been underwhelming and struggling with fouls. The Knicks need Mitchell Robinson and Achuiwa back to help assist down low. Dennis Schroder has been having a mid start and is being put in many trade scenarios. Filip Chytil got hurt once again and his health is becoming a major question mark for the Rangers.
